Dedication:
To Gloria and Gina, the two exceptional women who consented to marry me and who have guided my life.
Gloria
The gracious, smiling beauty from South Bend, Indiana, and I were married in the ’40s, immediately following my graduation from Notre Dame Midshipman’s School. Our union produced many years of happiness plus three children — Mark, Linda, and Gail — of whom we are most proud. She was the solid mother, the anchor of stability, and the conduit of much love throughout our home. Once we started to drift apart because of contrasting personalities and goals, she had the vision to nudge me into a new phase so that I could better pursue my aspirations.
Gina
The attractive, talented, goal-oriented girl from Toronto, was willing to abandon her blossoming business career in order to take a chance on a man twenty-three years her elder. Our marriage helped propel me to new heights of success and contentment. She has kept me thinking and feeling young; she has taught me the excitement of world travel; she has aided my business career; she beats me on the golf course; and she has sparked my enthusiasm for new interests, including her work in art. Indeed, Gloria and Gina have given me two bull markets in marriage, for which I am grateful. There is no rancor in our family stemming from a model divorce. My children and six grandchildren are relaxed about our relationships.
I am a lucky guy.
